Thriller is where you know what is going to happen but not the characters in the story . Suspence is when you have no idea what is happening.
A novel with a few deaths and murders is not necessarily a thriller, especially when no attempt is made by the author to make the deaths thrilling or even suspenseful.
This is the case with my novel The Village of Shadows. This novel attempts to analyse how unexpected events bring out best or the worst in people. When a person is told abruptly that he has terminal cancer the response is so varied that I have been amazed.
Is terminal cancer a thriller or full of suspense.
