Some have asked me about the mysterious and secretive Munshi. He is an old man who has inhabited the village for as long as any one could remember. How he got the name Munshi meaning a scholar is also not explained. He lives with his wife and a maid.
Halfway through the novel the Munshi gets a severe cardiac problem and he is pronounced beyond recovery by the doctor. But surprised everyone including me. He returns to the Village healthy.
His contracts with mysterious ascetics is soon revealed. The names of his contacts are a secret.
Who is this character who can converse with the dead and summon extraordinary ascetics. No explanation is given in the Village of Shadows.
Let him be. He will reveal himself .
